Carnival Of Life
I love the carnivals that roll into town in the spring and summer months. Some of them are so small that they set up in the parking lots of malls, and kids of all ages spend dollar after dollar on the Tilt-A-Whirl or for a chance to get lost in the frightening passageways of the Haunted House.
Day turns to night, and the lights of the rides send eerie and surreal splashes across the night sky. Everything becomes electric pandemonium, and every sense drowns in every other sense. Hot dogs spittle on grills, teenage girls offer up a sky-high kiss on the Ferris Wheel far above the world, and barkers yell for the next contestant in the ring toss.
Carnival of life.
Energy. It's always about the energy.
You can play the ring toss all day and all night long, and never win. So what?
You showed up for the wild wonder of it all. You were there.
You were there.
And that's good enough.
