da'Shade — Being Heroic

Hey, what's up?

This is da'Shade ... sitting in for Kennedy James.

Funny how people create words to make other people feel small and malicious.

Like "homophobic" or "islamaphobic" — hey, I'm both of these and proud of it.

I'm also alliumphobic, claustrophobic, dinophobic, iatrophobic, luiphobic, pediculophobic, radiophobic, telephonophobic, xenophobic, and zemmiphobic. Shit, the list may be endless. But these phobias are considered socially acceptable, not normal per se, but OK to have.

"Homophobic" and "islamaphobic" are full of gunpowder. They're used to slight and bait people into feeling unworthy, prejudiced, evil ... hell, into feeling like shit on a stick.

Screw that. Perfectly normal phobias in my book.

I admit I have no time for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, trannies, or whatever other sexual peculiarity is on the LGBT conga line of letters. I don't harbour any ill-will toward anyone's sexual practices, I just find them totally irrelevant.

As for the islam crowd, I have little or no understanding of their religion, and I don't care to find out. All I know is that a lot of people are dying in the name of Allah. What the fuck is that all about?

So, don't let words fuck you around. They're just words. All that matters is that you be true to yourself. You don't have to go around kissing other peoples' asses just because you think you might be offending them. If you offend them, that's their problem. Don't make it yours.

Ya'know, sometimes being phobic is just you being heroic.

Hit that mic and and God Bless America ...
