your coffee cup
is empty now
but i have left it
with its cracking brown ring
encircling the bottom
over by the bookcase
on the table
by the blue chair
where you would sit for hours
and wonder
what life without me
would be like

  1. Was someone mentally dividing up the contents of the house or a way to dispose of the body? I can't imagine a life without my loved one in it.

  3. We cannot truly know how much we will miss a thing, until it is gone; then we cleave to an object of that bygone time, as if it holds life itself.
