The Simplest Treasures

A rose by any other name ...

The Simplest Treasures

After childhood days of sunny gold, after the darkening years of growing old, after finding lasting love and romance, after avoiding every second chance ...

After enjoying great days of happy success, after feeling your life is a constant mess, after the smiles and the kisses, after the tear drops and the misses ...

After sensing perfection, after further reflection, after wishing on a star, after dreaming too far ...

After hearing great news, after singing the blues, after thinking you're all that, after not knowing where you're at ...

The greatest pleasures in life are its simplest treasures.

    1. Well, if truth be known, doing laundry on a Monday morning isn't a helluva a lot of fun ... ;o}

    2. ~chuckle~ ... I have to agree ... NO fun at all .... but ... after you have exhausted yourself from all those up and down excursions ... you will be able to sink down into that aroma of freshly washed laundry .... no a bad reward ~grin~ ... I actually rather like the smell of fresh laundry ... perhaps its a sense of accomplishment ........
      Happy Washing!

  2. Looking back, it was never about the grandiose events. The small gestures have always been the greatest pleasures of all. The ones that come from the heart ... xxx

    Are you singing the Laundry Day Blues?

    1. Laundry ... yuk ... simple, but not a treasure to me ... but all done now for another week ...

  3. Yes, I suppose it all boils down to the simple pleasures or the simple treasures, when, out of some cosmic necessity--one not well understood by most--light and darkness take their alternate turns at ruling our lives.

    2. Hi dear Kennedy and Manfred. Hope you are both well (((hugs))). Manfred your comment reminds me of 'O Fortuna'. There does seem much that happens to us that we would never have dreamt of. And all effort seems for naught. On a more trivial note-

      I made my own pasta yesterday for the first time and though inundated by negativity about even wanting to do that, I finally did it anyway. Though there was no appreciation or joy from others, I was delighted. BELLISSIMO!!! It was even a little fun and a success. Wish people would get excited and smile...even if it is just a meal.

      ps add me to friends please - I haven't been around much but will get around to it one sunnier day

  5. The older I get, the more I appreciate the simple things. Little things that were taken for granted before have become priceless treasures.

    I love the thoughts you expressed here.
