Takes You Away

there's a secret place
between the music and the quiet
there's a secret place
you may never discover
unless you should come by it
with the truest heart
just know that
it will shatter every preconception
and every lingering misconception
but do not wonder where it is
you will know it if you find it
you will know it if you find it
unless by chance or circumstance
it slips from the invisible silence
and finds you first
finds you first
and takes you away

  1. This is nice, though I am not sure I understand that place you speak of and maybe I shouldn't.

I was finally able to get in here and read your stories from last week without interruption now that the grand children are gone. I was dismayed that I was not able to comment. But whatever.....I am sorry I could not get to them before. I will just say they were all very amazing stories and that is all since I can't speak to each one individually.

Take care Mr. Kennedy and have a wonderful week.

  2. I've often wondered how many people come and go on this earth, and never know of the existence of the place of which you speak, KJ. Is it only a minority, or is it the majority, even the vast majority, who will never see it? Or perhaps, everyone sees it, but few will stop to give the place its just due. Questions, at the start of the week...

    1. I'm not sure everyone sees it ... too many people survive only on self-interest, which blinds one to everything but oneself. Well, that seems harsh, I guess, but I suspect that the age of romanticism is long gone ...

    2. self interest is causing empathy and compassion to almost become extinct and I am not sure where that leaves love :(

No, it is not long gone. I refuse to believe that it no longer exists simply because I know that it does.

Your poem speaks to the heart and it's lovely.

  6. Not sure if I understand exactly what this is about. Is it those times when you can "hear" music even though nobody is playing?

    1. It could be that, but it could be a hundred other moments as well. Let me put it in a Norwegian/Canadian context — it's when you are standing on a snowy bluff and you forget how cold you might be, you forget why you're there, you forget everything except the beauty in front of you and suddenly you "fit" into the landscape, and you are overwhelmed by the moment, by the feelings you have ... well, something like that. I mean if I could actually pin it all down, it wouldn't be much of a secret, now would it? ;o}
