Café Poésie — outside in

A Passion For Poetry

outside in

outside
the children are pirouettes of sunlight
swirling in a ballet
of imprecise leaps
squealing in the slippery game of tag
under a summer sprinkler drizzle
and this spontaneous joy is just enough
just enough to show
that life unfolds
all there is
from the inside out

outside
she sits beside him on a park bench
and unwraps the waxed paper
from all their years together
to offer him half a sandwich
he needs no more
and this shared moment is just enough
just enough to show
that life unfolds
all there is
from the inside out

inside
i hear you dreaming
then waking alone
and your girlish giggle chides me
for being apart
so far from your arms
but when i return to the rumpled bed
each whispered kiss is just enough
just enough to show
that love enfolds
all there is
from the outside in

  2. Sometimes you write and I have no words to even begin to comment, compliment, or show my appreciation for your brilliant and sensitive mind.

  4. The joy of childhood and the contentment of age..and the mind fills in all those years between with their sprinklings of happiness. It seems so right to me that the poem ends with love, which is timeless. What a lovely write, leaves the mind satisfied..

  6. From the inside out is a beautiful write if what we sometimes miss or take for granted. Those simple things in life that mean so much. Those things in the inside that we give to others. Love :) beautiful. :)
